Unplug Illinois Day

Unplug Illinois Day
On Saturday, July 9 2022, we encourage people throughout Illinois to ditch their electronic devices and "unplug" to enjoy everything that their local park, recreation and conservation agencies have to offer. Unplug Illinois, a program of the Illinois Park & Recreation Association, promotes the value that parks, recreation and conservation play in creating healthier communities.

Unplug Illinois encourages people to get out, unplug, play and engage with one another through experiences at local park, recreation, and conservation agencies. Whether a person is biking with friends on local trails, playing a sport, taking in a class or simply cooling off at the pool, Illinois is home to thousands of facilities and opportunities that can help people live a happier and healthier life.

How can you participate?  Include Unplug Illinois Day on programming already scheduled for the day, plan a community event, or share the message to get your community out to enjoy your parks, facilities, trails and programs!
