As a leader in the Therapeutic Recreation field, most professionals have applied safety and risk management tools and practices to agency programs.  However, as we continue to operate in a world that is impacted by COVID-19, we run the risk that our minds have not shifted or may tend to drift away from today’s reality to the world that once was or what we have been conditioned to know or see over time. Compliance issues established within the changing COVID-19  environment may not be intentionally overlooked, but rather human error as we struggle to see the new realities of our work environment. In this program we will discuss the benefits of periodically stepping back to reflect upon a program or operation and how to take steps to “see” the Coronavirus risk as it applies within the workplace.

What will October 2, 2020 look like in a COVID-19 era? Many park districts and cities have imposed safety requirements to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. How do those affect the ADA mandate that recreation programs be available in the most integrated setting? This session will review the Illinois COVID-19 interface with the ADA mandate, and how it applies to the work of Therapeutic Recreation professionals.
