Professional Development School 2022

Professional Development School 2022
IPRA's longest-standing educational and networking opportunity takes place in November at the majestic Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa in Galena, Illinois. Professional Development School, otherwise known as PDS, provides park, recreation, forest preserve, and conservation professionals with the opportunity to gain practical education in a small, student-focused and relaxed atmosphere. Whether you are a new or seasoned professional, this is the place to LEARN, develop, and hone skills to become a more effective practitioner; broaden your leadership development and CONNECT with others to build your network; and equip yourself with tools to lead and INSPIRE your agency. Come experience this year's gnarly "Park and Rec Mix Tape: The Soundtrack of Success" and join the many professionals that have graduated from PDS and advanced their career.

Who Should Attend: PDS offers a graduated, 3-year curriculum designed to help industry professionals advance their careers. Regardless of job title or work experience, new attendees must start at Year One, advance to Year 2, and Graduate to the last level. PDS graduates are eligible to participate at the Graduate level annually.

  • Year One identifies individual strengths and hones the skills needed for professionals to perform effectively.
  • Year Two discovers how to be an intentional and mission-focused leader, and how to plan for continued leadership growth.
  • Graduate equips practitioners with resources to move teams and agencies toward improved success.

Let's start with a walk back in time to when mullets were in fashion and Purple Rain took the country by storm. As we fast-forward through the 90s and the first two decades of the 21st Century, time seems to have suspended, yet so many enduring milestones occurred. And how did these 40 years affect the world of parks and recreation? Buckle up for an adventure as Jamie takes us on a 40-year timewarp that is sure to educate and entertain!
