Learning Lab: Trends in Creative Revenue Streams

Learning Lab: Trends in Creative Revenue Streams
Sponsored by the Forest Preserve & Conservation (FPC) Section, this session will include the findings from a regional and national market research study conducted by Stantec of forest preserves, conservation districts, park districts and private entities offering leisure and recreational amenities. Following the benchmarking research, three case studies will explore the successes and challenges of distinct operational models – campground management at Forest Preserves of Cook County, newly launched beverage concessions at Lake County Forest Preserves' Independence Grove, and the permitted archery range at Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Blackwell forest preserve. This session will offer insight and resources for developing creative revenue streams scalable for agencies of different sizes and structures, whether run by an outside concessionaire or in-house staff. There will be an opportunity for Q&A after the presentation of benchmarking data and case studies.

Learning Objectives:
1) Discover trends in recreation and leisure that may impact potential revenue streams and services offered by your agency 2) identify benefits and obstacles to both outsourced and internal recreation and leisure amenities 3) increase ability to assess and advocate for creative new operational models for your agency.
