Leadership Academy Live Streaming Event - Central Illinois
Leadership Academy is a unique learning opportunity for park & recreation professionals of different levels. Whether you are an early-career or seasoned veteran, you can always learn different ways to be a more effective leader for your agency. This 'live streaming event' is specifically for professionals south of I-80 that are interested in continuing education and are NOT current Leadership Academy participants. The 2018-2019 Leadership Academy program (hosted in Naperville, IL) will culminate with a discussion about Hot Topics & Trends. Faculty members Jarrod Scheunemann and Laurie Guest will head up the presentations "Your Trend-Spotting Scope" and "The Guest Encounter", both of which will be streamed live from NIU's Naperville Campus to Washington Park District near Central Illinois. If your agency is in Central or Southern Illinois, and you are interested in experiencing a little bit of IRPA's Leadership Academy, or you simply come join us at the Washington Park District for a day full of on-line Leadership education. Lunch is included.

Today, residents won't settle for status quo. It's important for professionals to think in innovative and strategic ways. That begins through the cultivation of creativity and you can't do that without a healthy curiosity toward trends and hot topics. In this session, participants will identify, present, and discuss various hot topics and trends in parks and recreation. Additionally, they will learn that visionary thinking begins with a broad scope. Leaders grow as they expand their input from peers, community members, mentors, and research related to national trends in parks and recreation and other industries. Be prepared to challenge you mind, think creatively, and walk away with the knowledge and skills to inspire your team to be the best in the business.
