2023 CPRE Discounted Exam Registration
Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE) is a national certification program through the National Park and Recreation Association, and it establishes a national standard for managerial, administrative, and executive park and recreation professionals. We've partnered with the National Recreation and Park Association to offer a unique opportunity for IPRA members to register for the Certified Park and Recreation Executive exam at a discounted rate. Individuals seeking CPRE certification must meet the prescribed education and experience requirements through NRPA. Upon approval of eligibility, applicants will have one year (from date of approval) to complete the exam. Demonstrate your commitment to executive leadership and take your career to the highest level by becoming a Certified Park and Recreation Executive!

To sit for the CPRE exam, you must meet one the following NRPA eligibility requirements:

  • Hold a current Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) Certification, or have held CPRP certification whose expiration date is within two years of the date of application for the CPRE, AND
  • Hold a master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited education institution, and 3 years of professional full-time manager experience, OR
  • Hold a bachelor's degree from a program accredited by the Council On Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism, and Related Professions (COAPRT) accredited program and 4 years of professional full-time manager experience, OR
  • Hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited education institution (from a non-COAPRT accredited program), with a major in recreation, park resources, or a related professional and 5 years of professional full-time manager experience, OR
  • Hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited education institution, with a major other than recreation, park resources, or a related profession and 6 years of professional full-time manager experience, OR
  • Hold an associate degree from a regionally accredited education institution and 8 years of professional full-time manager experience, OR
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalency certificate from a regionally accredited institution and 10 years of professional full-time manager experience.
 
Who Should Test: CPRP professionals from varying special interest groups are encouraged to pursue CPRE designation to demonstrate a commitment to executive leadership.

Eligibility and Test Date: IPRA will submit a list of candidates and payment to NRPA on April 1, 2023. NPRA will contact each candidate with instructions to submit eligibility. Once reviewed and accepted, NRPA will provide further information on how to register for the exam, which must be completed within 12 months from approval.

How to Prepare:
 It is highly recommended attendees participate in an optional CPRE Exam Prep Course and purchase NRPA's 5th Edition Management of Park and Recreation Agencies. On-line resources are available through NRPA, while live interactive courses are offered through IPRA twice per calendar year. To add a study guide to your discounted exam purchase, scroll down to Program and click Add next to Management of Park and Recreation Agencies. IPRA will mail books to exam candidates at the end of each month through March.

Note: Standard application and testing fee through NRPA is $345 NRPA Member and $404 NRPA Non-Member. Standard study guide fee is $80 NRPA Member and $105 NRPA Non-Member.

Cancellations:
 Refunds for the exam will be issued to requests received on or before March 31, 2023, less a $25.00 administrative fee. No refunds will be issued for the exam after the registration deadline, or the study guide.

CEUs: Program is not approved for CEUs (Continuing Education Units are for certifications such as CPRE, CPRP, and CTRS).
