Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA) enriches the lives of children and adults with disabilities through a partnership with 17 Park Districts located within the northwest suburbs of Chicago.  NWSRA provides outstanding recreation opportunities for people with disabilities within our partner Park Districts through weekly programs, adult day programs (PURSUIT), special events, day camps and inclusion in Park District programs. Job Summary: 
Coordinator positions currently open are Support Services Coordinator and Inclusion Coordinator.   Coordinator will assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate recreation and leisure programs for children and adults with disabilities. Assists the Support Services Manager with overseeing and managing part-time/seasonal employees in supporting programs for individuals.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of coordinating and implementing programs while working closely with agency teams to support individuals with disabilities in the least restrictive environment and the most inclusive settings. 
  • Responsible for developing, planning, and organizing recreation programs while working with assigned member districts coordinating before and after school care, preschool, general programs, special events, trips and summer day camp. 
  • Complete observations, assessments and follow up with the necessary paperwork, phone calls, and debriefing after each observation. 
  • Provide training for part-time/seasonal staff and member districts, when needed. 
  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot and address behaviors, programming issues, and concerns regarding program issues and participant behaviors.
Qualifications:  
Graduate from accredited college or university with a BA/BS degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field of study. Must have knowledge of and ability to confidently work effectively with individuals with disabilities. Current National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) or the ability to get certified within an allotted amount of time determined by the policy of the Association and/or the Executive Director. 

Scheduling:
This is a full-time, exempt position. Weekly schedule is generally 40 – 45 hours. Weekends and evenings occasionally based on schedule.

Job Purpose: As Marketing Specialist at NWSRA you will be part of the marketing and communications department. The Marketing Specialist will work under the Superintendent of Marketing & Communications and assist with a wide range of marketing responsibilities. In this role you will create meaningful content that will assist Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA) and Special Leisure Services Foundation (SLSF) in the promotion of the programs and services they provide. 

Marketing Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Assist with the development of graphics for print and digital campaigns.
  • Complete updates to flyers and brochures when needed. 
  • Assist with capturing photos at programs and events to utilize for marketing purposes.
  • Develop/update infographics to support agency reporting.
  • Assist the marketing team with other responsibilities to elevate the promotion of NWSRA and SLSF.
Digital Marketing Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Create social media and email marketing campaigns to support marketing efforts.
  • Effectively utilize social media ads to increase reach and promotion of events.
  • Coordinate/ produce short videos for TikTok and other social media channels.
  • Assist with website development and updates.
  • Research current and emerging digital marketing trends to ensure NWSRA and SLSF content is on the leading edge.
  • Actively monitor social media to ensure comments are responded to/ directed to the appropriate staff member in a timely manner.  
Qualifications:  High school diploma or equivalent required, with Two years of marketing experience. Thorough understanding of basic design skills (Adobe Creative Cloud/Canva), basic video editing skills and email marketing experience (Constant Contact Preferred). Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Have a creative mindset and willingness to be a team player.
 
Scheduling: This is a part-time non-exempt position. Weekly schedule is 20 hours a week.

SUMMARY:

Under the direction and supervision of the Lakefront General Manager, the Lakefront Beach Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the organizational planning, coordinating and implementation of operations and supervision of the lakefront swimming beaches and sailing beach during the summer and afterschool enrichment and programs during the school year. 

SUPERVISION:

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate part-time lakefront staff, including, but not limited to, Lifeguard, Sailing Attendants, Sailing Instructors, Customer Service Representative, Camp Counselors, and Program Attendants.
  • Plan, direct, implement and evaluate Aquatics Camp, Junior Lifeguard, Sailing Camp, and private sailing lessons.
  • Provide direct supervision and guidance for all sailing beach operations including in-season boat rentals
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate yearly sailing beach contract process and space administration. 
  • Conduct lifeguard certification and in-service trainings
  • Conduct seasonal trainings to cover staff expectations, customer service, safety and procedures that are outlined in various lakefront employee handbooks
  • Assist with seasonal facility start-up and closure procedures with WPD maintenance division. 
  • Implement purchasing, inventory of supplies, and reconciliation in accordance with Park District policies and procedures
  • Assist in providing high quality instruction to both patrons and non-lakefront staff for Red Cross courses including but not limited to First Aid/CPR/AED and Babysitting
  • Manage facility day use for internal and external camp visits.
  • Work collaboratively with the Gillson Park Supervisor in support of broad facility rentals, events and operations.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a catalog of session based programs and community events for all ages 
  • Responsible for the administration of an off-site afterschool enrichment program. 
  • Maintain current and accurate records pertaining to the operation of the Lakefront properties
  • Responsible for collaborating with the Marketing Department on annual marketing plan for operating areas, submit brochure content, and monitor website for accuracy
  • Review and approve time sheets for employees and accurately complete bi-weekly payroll
  • Assist in the creation, execution, and management of Lakefront Operations annual budget in accordance with Park District policies and procedures
  • Monitor monthly budget reports and report any variances

  • Attend and participate in required safety training.
  • Review all accident and incident reports that occur under area of responsibility and send to Human Resources/Risk Management Department
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
