Qualifications: Graduate from accredited college or university with a BA/BS degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field. Must have ability to develop and implement recreation activities for people with a wide range of age and abilities. Must demonstrate enthusiasm, independence and possess ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere and communicate with people with disabilities, co-workers, member agency staff, parents, educators, board of directors, vendors and community personnel. Ability to create and maintain a team approach in accomplishing the goals of the agency is a must.

Certification by the Crisis Prevention Institute is required or must be attained. Credentialing as a CTRS by NCTRC or other professional certification is strongly preferred.
Duties: Job Purpose:

To plan, implement, and evaluate programs for people with disabilities, including cooperative programs, camps, and other seasonal activities. To coordinate and promote the NSSRA volunteer program. Responsibility for budgeting, publicity and report writing, publicity and promotions specific to area. Involvement in agency programming and special events.

Summary of Duties:

Assist with the organization, implementation, and evaluation of cooperative programs, camp programs provided by NSSRA, and other projects. Work with Manager to complete and maintain all reports, files and paperwork necessary in the cooperative program, camps and volunteer services areas. Assist in recruiting, hiring, training part time recreation staff and volunteers, conduct orientations and trainings for agency staff and outside agencies. Develop, implement, evaluate, and follow through on behavior plans, and assist Manager of Cooperative Programs in conducting observations of participants and programs as requested. Assist in problem solving related to programs or volunteer services. Attend meetings, in-service training, conferences, and professional development opportunities, and conduct related educational sessions as necessary.
