Disc golf in Roselle off to a flying start
A large group on people, young and old, made it out to Goose Lake Park in
Roselle on Saturday, May 21 for the grand opening celebration of their new disc golf course. The
9-hole course is situated in a large park with holes challenging both the novice
and experienced player.
One of the hottest trends in recreation, disc golf proves to be a fun, inexpensive and great way to get exercise for people of all ages! If your agency is considering a disc golf course in one of your parks, feel free to contact Jeff Nack, Superintendent of Parks for the Roselle Park District, for advice, design and supplier references or general questions.

"The course is great. We've been here almost every day since it's opened!"

Park District Conservation Day
The Illinois Association of Park District's and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association's Joint Public Awareness Committee is proud to present "Park District Conservation Day at the Illinois State Fair" on Saturday, August 20th. Entertainers must register by May 30 to appear in the state fair's daily program, so don't miss out! Your agency's singers, dancers, theater groups, tumblers, bands and orchestras are encouraged to perform at the state's largest outdoor recreational event. It's great exposure for your agency and Illinois parks and recreation as a whole.
Volunteers are also needed to distribute promotional items, coordinate stage entertainment and assist with children's activities. Bring the entire family for a day of fun! The thrilling Jesse White Tumbling Team will perform at the Park District Conservation Day opening ceremony at 10:00 a.m., and the IPRA Teen Battle of the Bands finalists will compete on the Lincoln Stage. Volunteers must sign up by July 15.
Volunteers and entertainers receive a free Park District Conservation Day t-shirt and free parking and admission to the fair. Visit ILparks.org or ILipra.org to sign up. It's free!
